UK lifts ban on direct flights to Sharm el-SheikhOctober 23, 2019

London, Oct. 22 (Petra) -- The British government on Tuesday ended a ban on direct flights to Sharm el-Sheikh in Egypt, almost five years after the restriction was placed in December 2015.

The ban was imposed when a Russian passenger plane crashed over Sinai soon after take-off, killing 224 people.

The BBC carried a statement by the British government saying it notified airlines of the ban lift citing improvements in security procedures.
