Bakhit highlights strong ties between Jordan and Bulgaria

Acting Senate President Marouf Al Bakhit highlighted the strong ties between Jordan and Bulgaria that are based on mutual respect as well as the need to build on these relations in various fields.

During a meeting with a Bulgarian parliamentary delegation led by Head of the Jordanian-Bulgarian Parliamentary Friendship Committee, Galya Vasileva, Al Bakhit pointed to similarities between the two countries in terms of security and safety.

Jordan he said, is an oasis for security and stability in a turbulent region, indicating that the Kingdom has managed to overcome repercussions of the Arab Spring due to the political reforms it had implemented under the directives of His Majesty King Abdullah II.

Al Bakhit also spoke about the impact of political and security crises in the region on Jordan, which is hosting some 1.3 million Syrian refugees and is providing them with services despite the scarcity of resources.

On the Palestinian issue, he said the region will not enjoy peace and stability unless a just solution to the Palestinian issue is reached on the basis of the two-state solution.

The Bulgarian official praised the strong ties between the two countries and called for further boosting them, mainly in the economic field.

The meeting focused on the current situation in the region and means to forge closer relations between the two countries in various domains.
