Consumer society warns against tampered expiry dates

The Consumer Protection Society (CPS) on Wednesday warned citizens against buying expired and poorly stored products which are unfit for human consumption, the Jordan News agency, Petra, reported.

The society said it has noted a phenomenon of manipulating the expiry dates labels and selling these products at lower prices or with special offers, describing it as an “exploitation” of people’s difficult economic conditions.

CPS President Mohammad Obeidat said that the society has received several complaints from citizens, urging the need for inspection campaign to tackle the phenomenon.
