Kawar, World Bank chief review Jordan's economic progress

AMMAN — Minister of Planning and International Cooperation Mary Kawar on Thursday met with the Chief Executive Officer of the World Bank Kristalina Georgieva in Bali, as part of the 2018 Annual Meetings of the World Bank Group and the International Monetary Fund, held in Indonesia during October 9-14.

During the meeting, both sides reviewed the economic challenges facing the Kingdom and government reform programmes, according to a statement by the Planning Ministry.

Kawar stressed that the government is working on sustaining the holistic reform process, strengthening the resilience of Jordan and turning challenges into opportunities by maintaining the macroeconomic and financial stability of the Kingdom, the statement said.

She also discussed the implementation of reforms in a number of key sectors, the World Bank's support for Jordan in the coming period and the Kingdom's roadmap to reach self-reliance.
