Jordan, Egypt sign energy agreement

Amman, Oct. 21 (Petra) - Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources, Hala Zawati, and Egyptian Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources, Tarek El Molla, on Sunday signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) here to boost cooperation in training personnel and exchanging expertise in the field of gas production.

During the signing ceremony, Zawati stressed the importance of the agreement to benefit from Egypt's 'accumulated' expertise in the production of oil and natural gas, and highlighted the Kingdom's willingness to share its own expertise in the field of renewable energy.

Under the MoU, Egyptian skilled workers will arrive to Jordan to train cadres in the oil and gas fields, who will also benefit from the training centers of Egyptian petroleum companies, she added.

For his part, El Molla expressed her country's willingness to further expand the joint partnership in the field of natural gas, and to offer services by various Egyptian companies in this field to Jordanian manpower.

The two sides also discussed ways to benefit from the Egyptian expertise in supplying natural gas to industries and to follow up implementation of the previous agreements between the two countries, and affirmed resumption of pumping Egyptian gas to Jordan early 2019.
