World Bank checks on Microfund For Women services

A World Bank delegation on Tuesday checked on services provided by Jordan's Microfund For Women (MFW), which include digital and non-financial funding, micro-insurance, initiatives, programs and activities.

The delegation paid this visit on the sidelines of the World Bank women's board members periodic meetings chaired by Mary Allen, which is being held in the Kingdom and hosted by the MFW for three days.

The visit's program includes meetings with leaders of the government's economic and financial body, among which are the Central Bank, Ministries of Planning and International Cooperation and Social Development and a number of economic and financial leaders from the private sector in Jordan, according to an MFW statement.

The program also includes workshops on financial inclusion in the Middle East and North Africa, digital financial services and support for refugees through providing financial and non-financial services.

Representatives from the microfunding sector from Egypt, Morocco and Lebanon, as well as Jordan, will participate in those workshops.

MFW Managing Director Mona Sukhtian said this visit constitutes a unique opportunity to highlight Jordan's pioneering experience in achieving financial inclusion, as well as benefiting from international expertise in this field and exploring the possibility of applying it in the Kingdom.

MFW has recently reached more than 1.4 million funding process totaling more than JD500 million, Sukhtian noted.
