TRC blocks messaging apps in Tawjihi exam schools

Amman, July 1 (Petra) -- The Telecommunication Regulatory Commission (TRC) on Wednesday informed the telecommunication companies in the Kingdom (Zain, Orange, Umniah), to start blocking all apps, including messaging apps, that could affect the progress of General Secondary Education Certificate Examination (Tawjihi) exams in all schools in the Kingdom where exams will be held.

The decision, which will only be implemented during the exam, was taken in order to preserve the integrity of the exams, and as a precautionary step to prevent cheating or leakage of exam questions, the TRC said in a statement.

The TRC said that the blocking will takes place a few minutes before starting the exams and ends soon after.

Some areas outside the schools might be temporarily affected by the blocking due to the nature of communication networks' coverage, noting that this decision was made in coordination between the Education Ministry and the TRC.
