Amman, July 28 (Petra) -- Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates Ayman Safadi and his Romanian counterpart Bogdan Aurescu held talks over the phone Tuesday for a discussion on drumming up Romanian-Jordanian cooperation on regional issues and combatting the coronavirus pandemic.

Safadi and Aurescu agreed to hold a round of discussions at a senior level via telecommunication to boost cooperation on the economic, cultural and tourism scopes, in addition to coordinating positions on regional issues.

Safadi highlighted the 'unprecedented' danger of the Israeli annexation plans, if they were to be translated on the ground, on the prospects of achieving peace.

The top diplomat underscored the importance of bringing the two parties to the negotiating table to settle the conflict based on the two-state solution that would guarantee the establishment of an independent Palestinian state on the 1967 borders with East Jerusalem as its capital.

He underlined that this would be the only way to solve settle the conflict.

The talks figured high on upholding regional peace and stability.
