Wadi Araba, Aqaba Airport roads closed as southern region hit by dust storm
Amman, Dec 14 (Petra) –– A dust storm reduced visibility to zero in southern Jordan forcing the closure of the Wadi Araba and Aqaba Airport roads as the Kingdom braced for severe weather conditions, according to the Public Security Directorate (PSD).
The PSD media spokesman called on motorists to use alternatives routes and call the command and control number 911 for queries on the condition of roads.
Meanwhile, the Ministry of Public Works and Housing declared a state of emergency as of Monday evening in preparation for severe weather conditions that the meteorological department announced will hit the Kingdom.
It urged the public to take extra precautions and avoid low-lying areas where forecast rains could trigged flash floods, and to report any emergencies to the operations rooms of the ministry and municipalities.
