Amman, Feb. 9 (Petra) -- The state's revenue from a special tax on the various types of petroleum products is estimated at JD2 billion annually, according to Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources Hala Zawati.

Explaining to the Lower House's Committee on Energy and Mineral Resources the reasons behind the relatively high prices of fuel derivatives in the Kingdom, Zawati indicated that oil prices were liberalized a long time ago and taxed at different proportions.

She noted that that unleaded 95-octane gasoline is taxed JD0.57 per liter while unleaded 90-octane gasoline is taxed JD0.37 per liter, indicating that kerosene and diesel are taxed JD0.16 each.
