Amman, Oct. 21 (Petra) - The Telecommunications Regulatory Authority (TRA) has participated in the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) Telecom World 2020 in Hanoi.
According to a TRA statement issued on Wednesday, the event, hosted by the State of Vietnam over a 3-day period, is a ' main and important' annual ITU gathering, which sees participation of representatives of the telecommunications and information technology sector around the world.
During his participation as a keynote speaker, the TRA's director, Ghazi Jabour, highlighted the 'important' role that digital technology has played during the pandemic period and to mitigatie its implications on the main sectors, and has 'effectively' sustained life, despite the curfew conditions and total closure.
Discussing Jordan's experience in this field, he said the relavant efforts have culminated in the establishment of a crisis management cell from all concerned parties, under the TRA's supervision, to implement and take a set of precautionary and proactive regulatory measures that had an 'effective' role in mitigating the pandemic effects.
The TRA, he noted, has helped counter the pandemic crisis by increasing bandwidth capacities of mobile phone operators and Internet service providers to meet the high demand for data in the educational and health fields, as a result of the Covid-19 crisis.

The TRA has also allocated multiple hot numbers for health and emergency services and civil defense work and intensified oversight over the operator's coverage and the quality of services, according to Jbour.
