    Telecom sector Investments hit JD178mln in 2019, announces TRC

    Amman, Oct. 25 (Petra)- The volume of the telecommunications and information technology sector's investments hve amounted to about JD178 million during 2019, up by 31% from 2018, announced the Telecommunications Regulatory Commission (TRC) in a press statement on Sunday.
    The investment volume in the mobile phone sector has risen by 52% last year to reach JD141 million, in comparison to JD93 million in 2018, the TRC pointed out.
    The sector's revenues has witnessed a 'slight' drop during 2019, at a rate of 1%, reaching about JD999 million, compared to a total of JD1 billion in 2018, as the income of mobile phones operators (Zain - Orange Mobile - Umniah) has reached about JD664 million, said the TRC statement.
    Fixed line revenues amounted to JD165 million last year, up by 3% percent, compared to 2018, while revenues from data and audio service providers dropped last year by 8% to nearly JD71 million, added the statement.
    The TRC added that the number of the telecom sector's workers has witnessed an increase by 4%, bringing the cumulative workforce to 4,224.
