(Petra)-Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources, Hala Zawati, discussed with the Egyptian Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources, Tarek El-Molla, bilateral cooperation relations in the fields of oil, gas and mineral resources, the available opportunities to expand cooperation prospects and exchange experiences in a way that serves common interests.
During the joint talks held Thursday here, the duo agreed that the Egyptian petroleum sector would train Jordanian manpower in the oil and natural gas fields and provide various aspects of support.
Attended by the two ministers, Chairman of National Electric Power Company (NEPCO), Amjad Rawashdeh, and President of the Egyptian Natural Gas Holding Company (EGAS), Magdy Jalal, signed two appendices to contracts to supply natural gas supply, and operate expansions of the natural gas network in Jordan, carried out by the Jordanian Egyptian FAJR for Natural Gas Transmission and Supply Co. Ltd.
Lauding cooperation between Jordan and Egypt in the gas fields as 'a model for joint relations,' Zawati stressed the importance of expanding horizons of this collaboration to achieve best economic benefits and integration between the two countries.
Zawati also commended the level of the bilateral cooperation relations, thanks to the attention paid by the two countries' leaderships.
For his part, the Egyptian minister praised the joint cooperation in the gas field, which constitutes 'an important economic leverage' for the two countries.
The two countries' officials continue, through mutual visits, to build on the 'existing fraternal' cooperation within the framework of the complementary relations to serve common interests, El-Molla noted.
El-Molla's visit to Jordan comes within the framework of continuous coordination to enhance and support the strategic Egyptian-Jordanian ties in the gas and oil areas, review existing joint projects in the gas field, and maintain consultations on new cooperation fields to achieve mutual benefits, said a press statement issued by the Jordanian Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources.
