State of Country report recommends transforming Jordan into ICT industry hub
Amman, May 26 (Petra)-- The 2021 State of the Country Report issued by the Economic and Social Council (ESC) stressed the need of transforming Jordan into a center for the information and communications technology (ICT) industry by establishing a company with financial, administrative and marketing capabilities based on public-private partnerships and managed by the private sector.
The report demanded that the ICT sector be given the appropriate incentives to ensure its sustainability and development and increase its ability to introduce the latest technology in mobile communications, namely the 5G technologies to contribute to its growth and raise its quality and competitive level in Jordan and abroad.
It called for applying gradual e-learning over a period of 12 years, to make this project a national project, to complete the National Broadband Network (NBN) project, and to improve the competitiveness of companies operating in the sector through innovation and self-development of products and services.
Regarding cyber security, the report called for providing all possibilities to ensure that Jordan is keeping pace with technological developments in this field so that it can protect itself from any cyber-attack through partnerships with universities across the country.
