Amman, June 1 (Petra) -- The number of active fiber Internet subscriptions had hit 355,000 by the end of the first quarter of this year against 238,000 for broadband Internet services.

According to statistics published on the Telecommunications Regulatory Commission (TRC)'s website on Wednesday, there were about 129,000 active subscriptions to ADSL internet services.


Active mobile subscriptions totaled 7.3 million, including 5.4 million prepaid and 1.9 million postpaid subscriptions. Until the end of the first quarter, 65.5 percent of the population had a mobile phone.


There were 268,000 active landline subscriptions, with 176,000 being residential and 92,000 being commercial.
