AMMAN — A training course on wastewater treatment and reuse in agriculture concluded on Thursday at Al Balqa Applied University (BAU).

The “WATRA Week II” training project was organised by BAU, IHE Delft, and funded by the World Water Academy (WWA) in the Netherlands, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.

The course saw the participation of trainees from Miyahuna, Yarmouk and Aqaba water companies and several staff members of BAU.

The training course included several activities that included awareness programmes for farmers, women’s associations and school students, in addition to organising three training courses on technologies of treating wastewater and drinking water that saw the participation of 48 trainees.

Nasser Manaseer, manager of the WATRA project and associate professor of civil engineering at BAU, delivered a briefing on the project, its goals and top events of the week.

Secretary General of the Ministry of Water and Irrigation Jihad Mahamid discussed Jordan’s water challenges. He said that despite water scarcity in Jordan, the Kingdom is still a regional leader in managing water resources, voicing his appreciation for the Dutch government’s support for the water sector in Jordan.
