    Tourism revenue at $3.6bln during 8 months

    Amman, Sept. 14 (Petra) -- Tourism income in 2022's first eight months soared by 161.6 percent to reach USD3.645 billion compared to the same reporting period of 2021, according to official figures.

    The latest data issued by the Central Bank of Jordan said an increase in tourist numbers to 3.175 million was the main driver of the revenue rise, in addition to Jordanians' expenditure on travel hiking by 89.4 percent to USD1.004 billion compared to the same reporting period of 2021.

    In August 2022, tourism income climbed to USD822.4 compared to August 2021, up 82.4 percent, due to tourist numbers going up by 331,600 to 715,500 visitors in the same month.

    Likewise, Jordanians' expenditure in August this year increased by 51.6 percent from the same month in 2021, amounting to USD172.8 million due to a 51.3 rise in the number of tourists heading abroad.
