Amman, Sep 27 (Petra) -- Finance Minister Muhammad al-Ississ and the Secretary-General of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC), Nayef al-Hajraf, Tuesday held a meeting in Amman to raise the level of cooperation and economic integration by attracting more GCC investments in Jordan.

During the meeting, attended by GCC states ambassadors and economists, al-Ississ briefed the delegation about the financial and economic reforms Jordan had undertaken to increase financial and monetary stability.

He indicated that the government is committed to streamlining measures for Jordanian and Gulf investors to realise the visions of His Majesty the King and the leaders of the GCC countries.

He said the reforms focus on combatting tax evasion, increasing the number of taxpayers, reducing the costs of running a business in the private sector and strengthening transparency and public money governance.

Al-Hajraf, in turn, highlighted the GCC countries' interest in leveraging the 'promising' investment opportunities in Jordan due to its financial and monetary stability.

The heads of the Chambers of Industry and Commerce of the Gulf Cooperation Council said that the Gulf private sector is interested in investing in Jordan.
