    November 4, 2022

Amman, Nov. 3 (Petra) - Head of Jordanian National Center for Epidemiology and Communicable Diseases Control (JCDC), Raeda Qutb, stressed the importance of promoting a unified and integrated approach to protect public health.

Qutb's remarks came at a meeting on Thursday, with representatives of government agencies and relevant local and international organizations, on the occasion of Jordan’s participation in International One Health Day (OHD), which falls on November 3.

Qutb noted the world is now aware that human and animal health and the environment are often intertwined, an issue that should be dealt with in a collective and consistent manner.

Qutb said today's meeting aims to find out the latest developments in the One Health approach in the Kingdom, and ways to enhance and coordinate cooperation among all local, regional and international stakeholders to reduce burden of common diseases and antibiotic-resistant microbes and prevent their occurrence.

Animal diseases are the source of 75% of new and emerging infectious diseases that affect humans and pose a major and growing threat to public health and the environment's impact on the public health, she pointed out.
