Amman, Nov. 10 (Petra) -- Minister of Tourism Nayef Fayez Wednesday participated in a workshop organized by the World Tourism Organization (WTO) on the Center Stage Project, which aims to advocate for women's empowerment and gender-equal opportunities in the tourism sector.

On the sidelines of the World Travel Market (WTM) in London, Fayez spoke about Jordan's participation in the project, which is carried out in cooperation with the WTO and financed by the German Agency for International Cooperation (GIZ) and the United Nations Entity for Gender Equality and the Empowerment of Women, also known as UN Women.

'Jordan was one of the first countries to partake in this one-year project, which witnessed a large number of participants and achieved its goals,' said the minister.

He explained that the project's launching came in conjunction with the National Tourism Strategy last year, and the Social Inclusion Plan, which was prepared while taking into account women's challenges in the tourism sector.

Private sector representatives and ministry staff participated in the Center Stage project's training program, he indicated, adding that workshops were held in northern and southern Jordan to introduce the project and interconnect and train women from the public and private sectors.
