AMMAN — In the Green Trade Conference, which concluded on Wednesday at the Dead Sea region, participants recommended adopting a clear strategy for transitioning to a green economy and integrating it into the anticipated 2022-2026 National Strategy for Export.

They also recommended ensuring business interest governance and being supported by academic expertise to bridge the gap of knowledge. To implement the requirements of reaching a green economy according to the best global practices, the participants recommended providing appropriate support for green trade towards businesses and activities, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.

Participants also stressed the need to develop markets and identify competitive products and sectors with high export potential, as well as promote entrepreneurs' innovation to develop supply chains and take advantage of green commerce opportunities.

During the conference, CEO of Jordan Exports Omar Qaryouti said that the Economic Modernisation Vision includes proposals and initiatives to reach a green economy, stressing the need to start with steps on mechanisms to implement this vision.

Qaryouti also highlighted the importance of joining efforts by the public and private sectors to raise companies' awareness of applying practices and methods to reach a green economy during manufacturing.

The two-day event attracted local and international experts, along with international donor organisations and public and private sector institutions.
