Petra, Mar. 13 (Petra) -- The number of visitors to Jordan's tourist jewel, the ancient city of Petra, rose during January and February, marking a solid start for the current year, said Suliman Farajat, Chairman of the Board of Commissioners of the Petra Development and Tourism Region Authority.
Farajat told the Jordan News Agency (Petra) that he has great hopes for Petra in 2023, citing the red-rose city's prominence on the tourist world map and the current hotel bookings and the indicators that the authority has.
Figures released Monday showed that the number of tourists who visited the city in January and February of 2023 stood at 180,388 tourists, predicting that this year's figures may pass the number of tourists in 2019, which reached 1.1 million tourists.
